Charles Melton The Father in Law is a Shiraz blended from Barossa and Clare Valley vineyards.

Charles Melton is a family winery on Krondorf Road in the Barossa Valley, founded in 1984 by Graeme 'Charlie' Melton and run with his wife Virginia. The Father in Law brings together Shiraz from the estate's own Krondorf vineyard and from Lyndoch on the southern Barossa floor, where warm days and deep soils give ripe, dark-fruited wines, with fruit from the Clare Valley to the north, whose higher elevation and cooler nights add structure and freshness. The combination produces a Shiraz that has the richness expected of the Barossa but a little more lift and line than a single-district wine. It is matured in oak and bottled under screwcap, and is intended as an approachable introduction to the Melton style of Shiraz.

A generous, full-bodied Shiraz for barbecued beef, sausages or a hearty stew; serve at around 17 to 18 degrees.
