Château Angelus Clos du Milieu by Angelus 2023

Château Angelus Clos du Milieu by Angelus is a Merlot-led Bordeaux red carrying the name of one of the best known houses on the Right Bank.

Angélus takes its name from the Angelus bells of three nearby chapels, which could once be heard together across its vineyard on the south-facing slope below the town of Saint-Émilion. The de Boüard de Laforest family has been associated with the property for generations, and under Hubert de Boüard it rose from the middle of the pack to the very top of the appellation, promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the 2012 classification before the family chose to step away from the list altogether. Merlot and Cabernet Franc are the twin pillars of the house style, as they are across the clay and limestone of the Libournais, with Cabernet Franc given unusual prominence.
