Description
Château Branaire-Ducru Saint-Julien is a classified Left Bank Bordeaux from an appellation that sits stylistically between the power of Pauillac and the finesse of Margaux, prized for wines of balance and precision.
Saint-Julien is one of the smallest of the Médoc's great communes, its gravel-topped soils running close to the Gironde estuary and producing wines of clarity and structure. Château Branaire-Ducru was ranked a Fourth Growth in the 1855 classification and sits in the heart of the village of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, neighbouring several of the Médoc's most celebrated estates. The property is planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon alongside Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and is known for a meticulous, traditional approach to both vineyard and cellar.
This is a classic, well-composed Bordeaux built for the long term, with the kind of architecture and restraint that rewards cellaring and suits substantial, roasted or grilled meat dishes.
