Château Capbern 375ml 2020

Château Capbern is a Saint-Estèphe red from the Calon-Ségur stable, presented here in a half bottle.

The property lies in the northern Médoc, with vineyards on gravel and clay terraces within sight of the Gironde, which tempers the climate and lengthens the growing season. It shares ownership and winemaking with Château Calon-Ségur, and has become a favourite with Bordeaux drinkers looking for authentic Saint-Estèphe character without classified-growth prices. The 2020 blend is Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged in oak. It's deeply coloured, with cassis and liquorice, graphite and cedar, and a sturdy tannic frame balanced by fresh acidity, finishing long and generous.

A half bottle is handy for a dinner for two or a mid-week treat. Serve around 17 degrees with lamb chops or steak frites. Smaller bottles tend to mature a little faster than standard ones, so enjoy this over the medium term.
