Château Clarke Médoc 2019

Château Clarke is a Rothschild-owned estate in the Médoc, producing Bordeaux blends that pair classic Left Bank structure with a generous, modern edge.

The property sits in the Médoc, on the Left Bank of the Gironde, where gravel and clay soils have long supported the region's Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot plantings. Château Clarke was extensively replanted and rebuilt from the 1970s under Baron Edmond de Rothschild, and the Rothschild family remains involved in the estate today as part of its broader Bordeaux holdings. The vineyard's Merlot-led plantings, combined with careful site selection and traditional Bordeaux winemaking, aim to capture the savoury, cedar-and-cassis character the Médoc is known for while giving the wines a rounder, more approachable profile than some of their Cabernet-dominant neighbours.

This is a supple, structured Bordeaux red, well suited to roast lamb, beef dishes or mature cheeses, and a good introduction to the Rothschild style of Médoc winemaking.
