Château Climens Sauternes 375ml 2011

Château Climens Sauternes is an opulent dessert wine from Barsac, a commune within the greater Sauternes district of Bordeaux, France.

Climens is a Premier Cru Classé estate in Barsac, farmed biodynamically and unusual among the great sweet wine houses of the region for being planted entirely to Sémillon rather than the more typical blend with Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes are picked by hand across multiple passes through the vineyard as botrytis cinerea, or noble rot, develops unevenly on the vines, concentrating sugar, acidity and flavour. The estate has long been regarded as one of Barsac's most precise and age-worthy producers.

It is a rich, luscious style of white wine, well suited to blue cheese, fruit-based desserts or simply enjoyed on its own as a reflective pour.
