Description
Château Closiot Barsac Cuvée Bonneau is a pure Sémillon from Clos Bonneau, the walled plot that surrounds the château.
Jean-Marie Guffens, of Guffens-Heynen and Maison Verget in Burgundy, bought this property in 2017 after a lifetime's admiration for Sauternes. At a little under eight hectares it is one of the smallest estates in Barsac, hemmed in by Climens, Doisy-Védrines and Coutet, on red earth and left-bank pebbles over the plateau's limestone. Fruit is sorted in repeated passes as the botrytis develops, then pressed and fermented in barrel.
Serve well chilled at 8 degrees with Roquefort, foie gras, a fruit tart or on its own after dinner.
