Château de Beaucastel Côtes-du-Rhône Coudoulet Rouge Museum Release 2019

Château de Beaucastel Côtes-du-Rhône Coudoulet Rouge Museum Release comes from 30 hectares of vineyards immediately east of Beaucastel, on the opposite side of the A7 motorway. Often described as “baby Beaucastel”, Coudoulet shares remarkably similar geology with its famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape neighbour, including ancient alpine deposits and the large rounded stones known as galets roulés, which absorb heat during the day and release it gradually through the night.

The blend is 40% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 20% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. Each variety is harvested by hand and vinified separately, with a traditional 12-day maceration in cement tanks before blending after malolactic fermentation. The finished wine is then matured for six months in large oak foudres. As a Museum Release, it offers the opportunity to enjoy Coudoulet with additional maturity and development already achieved in bottle.

Decant for around an hour and serve at 16 to 18 degrees with roast lamb, beef, game or slow-cooked Provençal dishes.
