Description
Château de Fargues Sauternes is a rare, hand-crafted dessert wine from the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux, France.
Château de Fargues has been in the hands of the Lur Saluces family for centuries, the same family long associated with the neighbouring Château d'Yquem. Grapes are picked over multiple passes through the vineyard as botrytis cinerea, or noble rot, develops unevenly across the fruit, and yields are kept famously low in pursuit of concentration and purity. Production is tiny by Sauternes standards, and the estate is regarded as one of the appellation's most meticulous and consistent producers.
It is a rich, honeyed style of white wine, well suited to blue cheese, fruit tarts or simply enjoyed on its own.
