Château de la Chaize Clos de la Chaize Monopole 2020

Château de la Chaize Clos de la Chaize Monopole is a Gamay from a single enclosed vineyard at Odenas in Beaujolais, owned in its entirety by the estate.

Beaujolais runs south from Burgundy proper, and its granite-derived soils suit Gamay better than almost anywhere else. Château de la Chaize is one of the region's landmarks, a seventeenth century property at the foot of Mont Brouilly built for François de la Chaize d'Aix and attributed to the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart, with gardens laid out in the manner of André Le Nôtre. Since 2017 the estate has been in the hands of the Gruy family, who have moved the vineyard to organic farming and begun isolating individual plots. A clos is a walled vineyard; this one carries the estate's own name and is vinified as a single parcel.

Serve it at cellar temperature with roast poultry, mushroom dishes or a plate of cured meats.
