Château de la Tour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes is drawn from the estate's oldest vines inside the walls of the Clos de Vougeot.

Château de la Tour holds around five and a half hectares of the fifty hectare Clos de Vougeot, more than any other owner, and is the only estate with a cellar built within the walls. The clos was planted and enclosed by the Cistercians of Cîteaux, who worked it for six centuries before the Revolution broke it into parcels. The Labet family farms the vineyard organically and ferments with whole bunches in the old manner. This cuvée is made only in the years the estate judges worthy, from a parcel of vines planted early in the twentieth century whose small crop and deep roots give a more concentrated wine that matures far more slowly than the classic bottling.

Give it time; a decade in a cool cellar is not excessive, and it is best served at around 16 degrees with game or roast beef.
