Description
Château de la Tour Clos Vougeot Vieille Vignes Hommage à Jean Morin is the estate's rarest bottling, from old vines within the walls of the Clos de Vougeot.
Vougeot's clos was enclosed by the Cistercians of Cîteaux and has been a benchmark of the Côte de Nuits for eight centuries. Its fifty odd hectares are now shared by around eighty owners, and Château de la Tour, with roughly five and a half hectares, holds the largest share and is alone in having its cellars inside the walls. The property carries the name of Jean Morin, who established it late in the nineteenth century, and is farmed today by his descendants, the Labet family, organically and with whole bunch fermentation. This cuvée comes from the estate's oldest parcel and appears only in the vintages judged to merit it.
Decant it and serve at around 16 degrees with game or roast beef; wines of this kind are still improving after fifteen years.
