Description
Château de Nalys Châteauneuf-du-Pape Saintes Pierres Blanc is a white from the southern Rhône, made from the traditional pale varieties of the appellation.
White Châteauneuf-du-Pape accounts for only a small fraction of the appellation's production, which makes bottles like this uncommon. It is built from grapes found almost nowhere else in quantity: Clairette, Bourboulenc, Grenache blanc, Roussanne and Picardan, the last among the rarest of the thirteen permitted varieties. Château de Nalys sits on the plateau near the La Crau sector, on sand and beds of galets roulés, and has long been associated with the study and preservation of the full varietal range of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Since the Guigal family acquired the estate in 2017 the winemaking has been overhauled. Saintes Pierres de Nalys is the label under which the estate's second wine is bottled.
Serve it at around 12 degrees with roast chicken, grilled fish or bouillabaisse.
