Description
Château de Pez Saint-Estèphe is a historic Left Bank Bordeaux from one of the Médoc's most robust and structured appellations, long regarded as an unclassified estate that performs above its rank.
Saint-Estèphe sits at the northern end of the Médoc, its clay-rich, gravel soils giving wines with firmer tannins and greater density than its neighbouring communes. Château de Pez is one of the oldest estates in the appellation, with a history stretching back centuries, and has been owned by Champagne house Louis Roederer since the mid-1990s, bringing considerable investment and consistency to the property. The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, reflecting the classic architecture of the Médoc.
This is a sturdy, well-built Bordeaux with real ageing potential, suited to cellaring or pairing with hearty, slow-cooked and roasted dishes.
