Description
Château des Quarts Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru is a premier cru Chardonnay from a joint venture between two of Burgundy's best-known winemakers.
Dominique Lafon of Meursault and Olivier Merlin of the Mâconnais bought this small property in the village of Chaintré together in 2012. Its walled vineyard, the Clos des Quarts, faces east over the Saône valley and includes vines planted as far back as 1917. Pouilly-Fuissé gained its first premier cru vineyards from the 2020 vintage, and the estate's holdings are among them. The vines are worked by hand without chemical weedkillers and the grapes are hand harvested. After a direct pressing, the juice is fermented and matured in oak barrels at the Merlin cellar in La Roche-Vineuse.
Serve chilled but not too cold, around 11 to 13 degrees, so the texture comes through. It suits roast chicken, scallops in butter, lobster, creamy pasta or Comté. It can be enjoyed young and should develop over five to eight years.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
