Description
Château des Tourettes Tinus Blanc Pure Nature is a low-sulphur southern white blending Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne and Chardonnay.
Château des Tourettes is Jean-Marie Guffens' estate in the south, and Pure Nature is the most hands-off wine in its range. All four varieties come from the property's own rocky vineyards. Guffens uses a slow six-hour press, which leaves plenty of solids in the juice and in turn allows him to work with very little sulphur. Fermentation is wild, ageing takes place in concrete rather than wood, and the wine is bottled without fining or filtration. The Rhône varieties supply the aromatic weight and the stone-fruit character, while the Chardonnay holds the line, and the combination of solids and lees gives a broad, textural palate with a salty finish. It is built for the table rather than for sipping on its own.
Drink now and over the next two to three years. Serve at 11-12°C with roast chicken with herbs, pork with fennel or a rich fish stew.
