Description
Château des Tourettes Tinus Chardonnay Plateau de l'Aigle is a high-altitude Chardonnay from the Luberon.
Jean-Marie Guffens, of Guffens-Heynen and Maison Verget in Burgundy, bought this fifteen-hectare property near Apt in 1997 and planted it to varieties the local appellation does not allow, which is why the wines are labelled Vin de France. The vineyards sit around 420 metres on limestone-rich soil, high enough to keep Chardonnay taut this far south, and Plateau de l'Aigle is the highest ground of all. Tinus, the top range, is named after Guffens' grandfather.
Serve at 11 degrees with roast chicken, grilled fish, soft cheese or a mushroom tart.
