Description

Château des Tourettes Vin de France Tinus Rouge d'une Nuit is a light red left overnight on the pressed skins of old-vine Grenache, which is where its name comes from.

This is Jean-Marie Guffens' southern French property, and the wine sits outside any appellation, bottled as Vin de France. Syrah and Cabernet are blended and then left for a single night on the marc — the dry pressed skins — of old-vine Grenache, picking up extra colour, fruit and a little structure from material that would otherwise be discarded. The wine is then aged in concrete tank rather than barrel, so nothing gets in the way of the freshness. It is a deliberately unserious wine from a producer better known for white Burgundy and Barsac, made in the bistro register: light in frame, direct in fruit, with a peppery edge and a dry, savoury close.

Drink young, within two or three years. Serve lightly chilled at 14-16°C with charcuterie, roast vegetables or a simple steak frites.
