Description
Château Doisy Daëne Cru Classé En 1855 Barsac Sauternes is a classified Barsac estate whose wines were shaped by one of the most influential minds in white Bordeaux.
Doisy-Daëne was ranked a Deuxième Cru Classé in 1855, one of three properties eventually carved out of the old Doisy holding on the Barsac plateau. It has belonged to the Dubourdieu family for generations, and was for decades in the hands of Denis Dubourdieu, professor at the University of Bordeaux and the researcher who did more than anyone to reshape white winemaking in the region before his death in 2016; his sons now run the estate. The vineyard lies on limestone beneath sand and clay, planted to Sémillon with Sauvignon Blanc, and is harvested in successive passes as botrytis cinerea develops on the fruit.
It goes with foie gras, blue cheese or fruit desserts, and should be poured well chilled.
