Château du Cèdre Cahors Charly 2020

Château du Cèdre Cahors Charly is a one hundred per cent Malbec bottled as a single cuvée by the leading estate of Vire-sur-Lot.

Cahors is the historic home of Malbec, planted on the terraces above the river Lot and on the limestone causse behind them, and its wines are built on tannin and structure rather than the plushness the grape shows in the New World. Château du Cèdre at Vire-sur-Lot has been the appellation's most consistent reference for three decades under the Verhaeghe family, who farm the estate organically and work each parcel separately. Charly is one of those parcel selections and is made as the house makes all its reds: full destemming, a long maceration in vat and ageing in oak barrel before bottling.

A dark, tannic and long-lived style for roast and braised meats, game and hard cheese; decant it and serve at around 17 degrees.
