Description
Château-Fuissé Mâcon-Villages is a Chardonnay from the southern end of Burgundy, made by the Vincent family of Fuissé.
The Mâcon-Villages appellation covers white wine from a group of communes in the Mâconnais, the belt of limestone hills that runs between the Côte Chalonnaise and Beaujolais. Chardonnay has been grown here for centuries and the region supplies a large share of white Burgundy at approachable prices. Château-Fuissé is based in the village of Fuissé, beneath the rocks of Solutré and Vergisson, and is among the names most closely tied to the reputation of the area. The vines grow on clay and limestone, and the wine is made to show the fruit and the freshness of the site rather than oak.
Serve well chilled, at around 10 degrees, with seafood, summer salads, a quiche or goat's cheese; it is at its best in the first few years after release and calls for no cellaring.
