Château-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru ‘Combettes’ 2022

Château-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru 'Combettes' is a Chardonnay from a named premier cru vineyard in the commune of Fuissé.

Pouilly-Fuissé lies at the southern end of Burgundy, in the shadow of the great limestone rocks of Solutré and Vergisson, and in 2020 became the first Mâconnais appellation to gain premier cru vineyards, twenty two of them in all. Les Combettes sits in the commune of Fuissé on clay and limestone; the name refers to the small combes, or hollows, that mark the slope. Château-Fuissé, run by the Vincent family, has long been one of the standard bearers of the appellation. The Chardonnay is picked by hand, then fermented and matured in oak barrels with a measured proportion of new wood.

Serve at around 12 degrees with roast chicken, veal, scallops or a soft washed rind cheese; the wine is approachable on release and will develop well over five to ten years.
