Château-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Le Clos 2023

Château-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Le Clos is a Chardonnay from a walled vineyard that lies immediately around the château at Fuissé.

Pouilly-Fuissé is the leading white appellation of the Mâconnais, covering four communes beneath the limestone escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson. In 2020 it was granted its first premier crus, twenty two named vineyards recognised after a long campaign by local growers, the first in the Mâconnais. Le Clos is one of them, a walled parcel on clay and limestone next to the château, held solely by the estate. Château-Fuissé has been in the hands of the Vincent family for generations and did much to establish the standing of the appellation. The wine is fermented and matured in oak barrels, a portion of them new.

Serve at around 12 degrees with roast poultry, veal or richer fish dishes, and pour it into a decent sized glass; it is worth keeping for five to ten years.
