Château-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cuvée 2023

Château-Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cuvée is the flagship white of the estate that has done more than any other to argue for the Mâconnais as serious Chardonnay country.

Pouilly-Fuissé sits at the southern tip of the Mâconnais, in an amphitheatre of vineyards beneath the limestone escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson. Château-Fuissé, in the village of Fuissé, has been in the hands of the Vincent family for several generations and is the name most closely associated with the appellation's rise. Tête de Cuvée is a selection drawn from the estate's oldest vines, fermented and matured in oak barrel and left on its lees. In 2020 the appellation was granted its first premiers crus, twenty two climats in all, formal recognition of a hierarchy that growers here had understood for a very long time.

Serve at around 12 degrees with roast chicken, veal or a richer fish such as turbot; it rewards five years or more in the cellar.
