Château Guiraud Petit Guiraud, 2nd Vin, Sauternes is the second wine of a First Growth of Sauternes, made in the same cellar and by the same method as the grand vin.

Sauternes lies where the cold Ciron joins the warmer Garonne south of Bordeaux, and the autumn mists that gather there encourage Botrytis cinerea to settle on ripe Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Pickers work through the vineyard in successive passes, selecting only shrivelled berries by hand, which is why production across the appellation is so small. Guiraud was classified Premier Cru Classé in 1855, sits on high ground near the village of Sauternes and is farmed organically. Petit Guiraud is assembled from lots not chosen for the grand vin, generally from the estate's younger plantings, and is built for earlier drinking.

Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees; with blue cheese, tarts or foie gras.
