Description

Château Haut-Bages Libéral, 5ème G.C.C, 1855 is a Fifth Growth of Pauillac whose vineyards sit alongside some of the most famous names in the commune.

The second half of the name comes from the Libéral family, Bordeaux brokers who assembled the property in the eighteenth century, and the first from the Bages plateau it shares with Lynch-Bages. Its parcels are unusually well placed for a Fifth Growth, with a large block of deep gravel next to Château Latour and further vines near Pichon Longueville. The estate is run by Claire Villars Lurton and is farmed biodynamically, with certification gained in recent years, which remains rare among classified Médoc properties. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the planting, as it does across Pauillac, with Merlot filling out the blend on the heavier soils.

A good match for lamb, beef or game, served at 16 to 18 degrees.
