Description
Château Haut-Batailley, 5ème G.C.C 1855 is a classified growth of Pauillac, drawn from vineyards on the gravel plateau towards the Saint-Julien boundary.
Pauillac holds more classified estates than any other Médoc commune, and its deep gravel banks, laid down over millennia by the Gironde, drain freely and suit Cabernet Sauvignon above all else. Haut-Batailley came into being when the Batailley estate was divided in the 1940s; the Borie family, owners of Ducru-Beaucaillou, managed it for many years before the Cazes family of Lynch-Bages bought the property in 2017 and set about renewing the vineyard and building a new cellar. The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot filling the middle, and the wine is matured in French oak barrels in the manner of the commune.
Serve at 16 to 18 degrees with roast lamb or beef.
