Description

Château Laballe Bas Armagnac in this 2.5-litre bottling is a single-vintage Baco from Parleboscq, in the Bas Armagnac.

Armagnac has been distilled in Gascony for at least seven centuries, some 150 years longer than Cognac, and Bas Armagnac, with its sandy soils, is the most highly regarded of its three zones. Château Laballe lies at Parleboscq, between the Landes forest and the Gers river. Jean-Dominique Laudet bought the property in 1820 after a career in the spice trade, and the eighth generation, Cyril and Julie Laudet, run it today with a stated ambition to restore Armagnac's standing without cutting it loose from its past. Baco, the region's own hybrid variety, is the sole grape here; it suits these soils and rewards long ageing in cask. The spirit is matured in oak from the neighbouring Landes forest and bottled with no added colour and no filtration, at its natural strength.

The large format is built for a gathering; serve at room temperature in a tulip glass with dark chocolate, walnuts or an aged hard cheese.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
