Château Léoville-Las Cases, 2ème G.C.C, 1855 2021

Château Léoville-Las Cases, 2ème G.C.C, 1855 is a Saint-Julien second growth long regarded as standing a step above its rank.

The original Léoville was among the largest estates in the Médoc before it was broken up, and Las Cases kept the finest part: the Grand Clos, a walled block of gravel at the northern edge of Saint-Julien that touches the Pauillac boundary and Château Latour. The gateway to the clos, topped by its lion, is one of the best known images in Bordeaux. The Delon family has run the property since the early twentieth century and selects with unusual severity, with the parcels that fall short going into the second wine, Le Petit Lion. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend, with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and the wine is matured in French oak.

It is a wine for roast beef, venison or lamb, and it asks for time.
