Château Leoville-Las Cases Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases 2022

Château Leoville-Las Cases Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases is the second wine of one of Saint-Julien's great estates, made by the same hands and from the same commune as the grand vin.

Léoville Las Cases occupies the northern edge of Saint-Julien, its walled Grand Clos running up to the boundary with Pauillac and Château Latour, marked by the stone gateway and the lion that gives this wine its name. The property is directed by the Delon family, whose selection for the grand vin is famously severe, and Le Petit Lion was created in 2007 to give the remaining parcels a home of their own. It draws chiefly on younger Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines within the estate, is made in the same cellars and raised in French oak, and carries the house signature in a lighter frame.

Serve with roast beef, lamb or game birds; it drinks well earlier than the grand vin but will hold comfortably for a decade.
