Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry 3ème Grand Cru Classé en 1855 2019

Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry is a Third Growth Margaux known for its perfume and finesse.

The estate takes its name from two past owners: Simon Malescot, a royal counsellor at the Bordeaux parliament in the late seventeenth century, and Count Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry, who acquired it in the nineteenth. The Zuger family bought the property in 1955 and have restored both the vineyard and the reputation of the wine. Vines grow on the gravel soils of the Margaux appellation, and the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot is aged in French oak. The estate describes 2019 as delicate and gourmand despite a tight tannic frame: the Cabernet Sauvignon brings freshness, Merlot the body, and Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot act like salt and pepper, adding density.

Tuck this away for a few years if you can. When it's ready, decant and serve at around 17 degrees with roast lamb, veal chops or a platter of hard cheese.
