Château Meyney Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel 2010

Château Meyney is a long-established Saint-Estèphe estate on slopes overlooking the Gironde estuary.

The property sits just north of Château Montrose, with vineyards on gravel and clay running down towards the water, and it was once a priory whose buildings still form the heart of the estate. Today it belongs to CA Grands Crus, the wine arm of Crédit Agricole, which has invested in both vineyard and cellar. The blend is based on Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and the wine is aged in oak barrels. 2010 was one of the great Bordeaux vintages of recent decades, giving wines of power and freshness, and with well over a decade in bottle this one is now moving into its mature drinking window.

Stand the bottle upright for a day and decant it gently before serving at around 17 degrees. Mature Saint-Estèphe is superb with roast beef, lamb with rosemary or a mushroom ragu.
