Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 375ml 2022

Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a white from one of the largest and longest established estates in the appellation.

Only around six or seven per cent of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is white, made from a permitted group that includes Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Picpoul and Picardan. Mont-Redon takes its name from the high plateau in the north west of the commune, thickly covered in galets roulés over red clay, and the estate has been in the Abeille and Fabre families since the early twentieth century, farming a very large contiguous holding by local standards. The white is picked early to hold acidity, pressed whole bunch and fermented mostly in stainless steel with a portion raised in barrel, with malolactic conversion largely avoided so that the wine keeps its freshness.

Full bodied but dry and firm, it suits roast chicken, veal, richer fish dishes and soft cheeses; serve at ten to twelve degrees.
