Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge 375ml 2021

Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge is a classically proportioned Grenache led red from the stony plateau that gives the estate its name, offered in half bottle.

The Mont-Redon plateau lies in the north west of the commune, its surface almost entirely covered by galets roulés, the rounded quartzite pebbles carried down by the ancient Rhône and left over red clay and sand. The stones store daytime heat and radiate it back at night, which helps Grenache reach the ripeness the appellation is known for. The property is among the largest single holdings in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has been run by the same family line since 1923. The blend is led by Grenache with Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault in support, fermented separately by parcel and variety and raised in a mix of large oak foudre and concrete.

Full bodied, warm and rounded with well settled tannin, it suits lamb, roast beef, game birds and Provençal stews; serve at seventeen to eighteen degrees.
