Description
Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2ème Cru is a Pauillac second growth whose vineyard runs right up to the Saint-Julien boundary.
Pauillac is the commune of three first growths, built on gravel banks deep enough to drain almost any rainfall, and Comtesse de Lalande holds some of its most favoured ground at the southern end, next to Château Latour. The estate came about when the large Pichon Longueville holding was divided among the family in the nineteenth century, the daughters' portion becoming Comtesse de Lalande. Part of the vineyard lies across the border in Saint-Julien. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, with more Merlot than is usual in the commune and a little Cabernet Franc. Champagne Louis Roederer bought the property in 2007.
Serve at 17 to 18°C with roast lamb, beef or game birds, decanting an hour or two ahead; the best vintages will run for two or three decades.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
