Description
Château Potensac is a Médoc estate from the northern end of the peninsula, run by the family behind Château Léoville Las Cases.
Potensac lies near Ordonnac, well north of the famous communes, in the plain Médoc appellation rather than Haut-Médoc, on a rise of gravel over limestone and clay that sets it apart from the flatter land around it. The Delon family have held the property for generations and it is made by the same team as Léoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien, which accounts for its long-standing reputation as one of the better-value addresses in the Médoc. The blend brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a little Petit Verdot, from parcels that include some genuinely old vines, with ageing in French oak barrels.
Serve at 17 to 18°C with steak, roast lamb or a cheese board; it is approachable young and will keep for ten to fifteen years in good vintages.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
