Château Potensac Médoc 2016

Château Potensac Médoc is a full-bodied, Cabernet-led red from the northern Médoc, made by the family behind Château Léoville Las Cases.

A gravel and clay outcrop at Ordonnac, north of the classified communes and outside their appellations, is home to this estate, owned by the Delon family for generations. The Saint-Julien team brings its rigour: careful selection, plot-by-plot vinification and a style that puts structure and length ahead of instant charm. Cabernet Sauvignon leads, with Merlot and some Cabernet Franc, fermented in temperature-controlled vats and aged in French oak, part new, for about a year.

Cedary and firm, with dark fruit and a dry, gravelly finish. Decant it, or keep it a while, and serve at 17-18°C with rare beef, roast duck or aged hard cheese.
