Château Rieussec 'Carmes de Rieussec' Sauternes is a luxurious sweet white wine from Bordeaux, the second wine of one of the Sauternes appellation's most famous Premier Cru Classé estates.

Château Rieussec sits in Fargues, at the eastern edge of the Sauternes appellation, where misty autumn mornings and warm afternoons encourage the development of noble rot, concentrating the grapes and producing wines of great richness and complexity. Classified a Premier Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, the estate has been owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, the family behind Château Lafite Rothschild, since 1984, and its vineyards are planted predominantly to Sémillon alongside Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. 'Carmes de Rieussec' takes its name from the Carmelite monks who once owned the property, offering an accessible introduction to the estate's style.

This is a decadent, honeyed dessert wine, well suited to blue cheese, fruit tarts or foie gras.
