Château Suduiraut Sauternes 2009

Château Suduiraut Sauternes is a historic Premier Cru Classé estate producing some of the appellation's most opulent and refined sweet wines.

Located in Preignac, immediately adjacent to Château d'Yquem, Suduiraut's château dates to the late seventeenth century and its formal gardens are attributed to André Le Nôtre, the landscape architect behind Versailles. Classified a Premier Cru in the original 1855 Bordeaux ranking, the estate has long been recognised for the quality of its terroir, where gravel and clay soils and the confluence of the Ciron and Garonne rivers create the misty autumn conditions ideal for noble rot. Today the property is owned by AXA Millésimes, which has worked to restore both vineyard and historic buildings while staying true to the estate's traditional Sauternes winemaking.

This is a luscious, honeyed dessert wine, equally at home with fine cheese, fruit-based desserts or simply poured on its own.
