Château Terrefort-Lescalle 1.5L MAGNUM 2023

Château Terrefort-Lescalle is a red Bordeaux from Macau in the Médoc, made by the owners of Château Maucamps in the same commune, here in magnum.

Château Terrefort-Lescalle lies at Macau, just north of the city of Bordeaux on the left bank, and shares ownership with Château Maucamps, but the wine is declared under the regional Bordeaux appellation rather than Haut-Médoc. The vineyards sit on gravel and sandy gravel close to the Gironde estuary, soils that drain freely and warm quickly in spring. As across the left bank, the blend is built on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon; fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats with a moderate maceration, and maturation uses vat and older barrel rather than a large proportion of new oak, keeping the fruit to the front.

An easy, generous claret for roast chicken, steak frites and charcuterie, and a good magnum for a table of friends; serve at around 16 degrees.
