Description
Château Teyssier Le Dôme Saint Émilion Grand Cru Classé is a Cabernet Franc led red from a small parcel of vines on the slope below Château Angélus.
Le Dôme is the work of Jonathan Maltus, an English engineer who arrived in Saint-Émilion in the 1990s and built a group of small properties around Château Teyssier. The wine comes from a single block of clay and limestone within the commune of Saint-Émilion itself, planted to an unusually high proportion of Cabernet Franc with Merlot. Volumes are tiny, the fruit is picked and sorted by hand, and the wine is fermented in small vats and matured in a high proportion of new oak. Le Dôme was promoted to Grand Cru Classé in the 2022 revision of the classification, and now has its own circular winery designed by Norman Foster.
Decant an hour or two ahead and serve with roast beef, lamb or game; the wine can be enjoyed young but will develop over fifteen years and more.
