Description
Château Teyssier Saint Emilion Grand Cru is a Merlot led red from Vignonet, in the southern part of the Saint-Émilion appellation.
Teyssier is the home property of Jonathan Maltus, who bought it in the 1990s and used it as the base for a group of small right bank estates, among them Le Dôme. The vineyard lies on sand and clay on the lower ground towards the Dordogne, planted mainly to Merlot with Cabernet Franc. Fruit is picked and sorted by hand, fermented in temperature controlled vats and matured in French oak barrels, a portion of them new. It is sold as Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, the appellation that covers the majority of the district's wine, and is made in a generous, modern style.
Decant briefly and serve at around 17 degrees with roast or grilled meats, cassoulet or firm cheeses; which suits a table of two and is ready to drink on release.
