Chatto Franklinii Pinot Noir 2025

Chatto Franklinii Pinot Noir is named for the Huon pine, Lagarostrobos franklinii, that grows in Tasmania's south.

The Huon Valley is one of the coldest wine districts in Australia, well south of Hobart, where Pinot Noir ripens slowly and keeps high natural acidity. Jim Chatto makes only Pinot Noir under his own label, working several Tasmanian sites separately. The wine is fermented with a high proportion of whole bunches and native yeast, then matured in French oak, largely seasoned.

Serve at 15 degrees with duck, venison or a mushroom tart. It rewards eight to ten years.
