Description

Chionetti Barbera d'Alba DOC Vigna San Sebastian is a single-vineyard Barbera from a family estate in the southern Langhe.

The estate is based in Dogliani, a hilly corner of Piedmont best known for Dolcetto, and the family has been growing grapes there for generations. Quinto Chionetti built the estate's reputation, and it is now run by his grandson Nicola. Barbera thrives on these sunny slopes, giving deeply coloured wines with naturally high acidity and soft tannins. This bottling comes from the San Sebastian vineyard and shows cherry and plum fruit with a hint of spice.

Barbera's bright acidity makes it very food-friendly. Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with tajarin pasta and ragù, pizza, salumi or veal with mushrooms. It is drinking well now.
