Cien Y Pico Viña La Ceja Bobal Garnacha 2021

Cien Y Pico Viña La Ceja Bobal Garnacha is a blend of two traditional Spanish varieties from the high plateau of Castilla-La Mancha.

Bobal is one of the most widely planted red grapes in Spain, though it is rarely seen abroad; it is concentrated in the interior of the south-east, around Manchuela and Utiel-Requena, where it has been trained as low bushes on limestone at considerable altitude for centuries. Thick-skinned and naturally high in acidity, it was long consigned to bulk wine and rosado before a generation of growers began treating the old vineyards seriously. Garnacha, the other half of the blend, is the great red of northern and central Spain and has been grown alongside Bobal in these parts for as long as anyone can remember. Both are traditionally worked as low bush vines on the dry plateau, hand-picked out of necessity rather than choice.

Serve at around sixteen degrees with grilled meats, rice dishes or a paella cooked over the fire.
