Clos Mogador Priorat Tinto 2022

Clos Mogador Priorat Tinto is one of the wines that defined the modern reputation of Priorat, a small but formidable red wine region in Catalonia, Spain.

Priorat's dramatic landscape of steep terraces and licorella slate soils long deterred growers, until a handful of pioneering winemakers in the 1980s, including Clos Mogador's founder René Barbier, recognised the potential of the region's old, low-yielding Garnacha and Cariñena vines. Their work helped Priorat become one of only two Spanish regions to hold DOCa status, and Clos Mogador remains one of its most respected estates, blending Garnacha and Cariñena with smaller amounts of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on this rugged, mineral-rich terrain.

This is a commanding, structured Spanish red suited to cellaring, magnum occasions and richly flavoured, slow-cooked dishes.
