Description
Clos Naudin Foreau Vouvray extra brut is a traditional method sparkling Chenin Blanc given four years on lees before disgorgement.
Domaine du Clos Naudin is run by Philippe Foreau in Vouvray and is one of the reference estates of the appellation, farming around twelve hectares of Chenin Blanc on the tuffeau limestone and flinty perruches soils of the first slope above the Loire. The house style is uncompromising and built for the long haul, with fruit picked at full ripeness, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and no chasing of early drinkability. The sparkling wine is made only in years the estate judges suitable, takes its second fermentation in bottle and rests forty eight months on lees, then is finished extra brut with only a token dosage.
Rich yet firmly dry, with real weight for a Loire sparkling, it stands up to roast poultry, veal and aged Comte; serve at around 9 degrees.
