Description
Clos Sainte Magdeleine Côtes de Provence Rosé is a coastal Provençal rosé from one of the region's most storied family estates, perched above the Mediterranean near Cassis.
The Zafiropulo family, Marseille-based merchants with Mediterranean trading roots, acquired the nine-hectare Clos Sainte Magdeleine estate in 1921 and have farmed it ever since, making it one of the longest continuously family-run properties on this stretch of coast. The vines are planted across narrow limestone terraces, known locally as restanques, climbing the cliffs of Cap Canaille alongside lower parcels closer to the sea, with soils ranging from clay and limestone to sandstone and marl. Current custodian Jonathan Sack farms adaptively in response to a warming climate, favouring resilient Mediterranean varieties and propagating new vines through sélection massale from the estate's healthiest old vines.
A refined, mineral-tinged rosé, it is ideal with seafood, salads and the light, herb-driven dishes of the Mediterranean coast.
