Cognac Tesseron Carafe Tresor 700ml

Trésor is the oldest release in the Cognac Tesseron carafe collection, blended from eaux-de-vie aged for more than fifty years.

The Tesseron family are Cognac's best-known holders of old stock, having spent generations buying and keeping eaux-de-vie rather than selling them young. Trésor is built from around one hundred of them, each chosen for finesse, depth and length. All are Grande Champagne in origin, the innermost cru of the region, whose chalky soils give spirits that age slowly and hold their shape, and all three of the area's principal grapes are represented: Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Folle Blanche. The blend was aged for what the house calls more than two generations, meaning fifty years and beyond, in tierçons, the large old casks reserved for the most valuable spirits, within the family's Paradis cellar. Ageing of this length is what produces the smoky, nutty rancio character that marks very old Cognac.

Serve neat at room temperature in a tulip glass, after dinner. It needs nothing beside it beyond perhaps dark chocolate or a few walnuts.
