Collector Reserve Shiraz 2019

Collector Reserve Shiraz is the flagship Canberra District Shiraz from Collector Wines, with a small portion of Viognier.

Canberra District winemakers popularised the Rhône practice of adding a little Viognier to Shiraz, lifting its perfume and softening its texture. The Reserve comes from the label's best vineyard parcels and combines ripeness with spice, fragrance and elegant structure. 2019 was a warm, dry season, giving a wine of intensity and energy with plenty of youthful charm. The Viognier is typically co-fermented with the Shiraz, which helps fix colour and adds a floral top note to the dark fruit.

Decant for an hour and serve at around 17 to 18 degrees with roast beef, venison or duck. According to Collector it will be at its best between five and thirty years of age, so it is a great candidate for the cellar.
